Repeat Prescriptions Lochcarron Medical Practice Update NEW OPENING TIMES NHS 24 Online Type 2 Diabetes – Are you at Risk? Thinking of quitting smoking? Suffering with Joint or Muscle pain? Public Holidays 2026/2027 Are you concerned about someone’s mental health?
All those with ongoing conditions, such as high blood pressure, heart disease, asthma, diabetes and thyroid disease, as well as those on certain medications, will be asked to attend during the month of their birthday for review.
We have implemented a new Recall system which will involve these patients receiving a text message asking them to contact the office and will give them a Group letter (A,B C D or E) to give to the reception team. The team will then make an appointment with either the practice nurse or the pharmacist in the first instance. If an appointment with the practice nurse is required, patients may be asked to bring a urine sample and at the appointment, weight and blood pressure measurements and any blood tests as needed will be carried out.
A follow up appointment with the GP to review the results, discuss any problems and update medication may then be made if necessary. Asthma and COPD reviews are done by our pharmacist, James Melville.
Of course if any of these conditions are causing concern they can be reviewed on other occasions as appropriate.
These will be done by the Practice nurse on Thursday and Friday mornings, (occasionally on other days due to holiday commitments) Please do not make an appointment with the doctor for these unless they absolutely have to be done on a different day.
The practice nurse will also do all the cervical smears and routine blood pressure checks.
