If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one you can register as a temporary patient.
You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. After three months you will have to re-register as a temporary patient or permanently register with the practice.
To register as a temporary patient simply contact the practice to make an appointment. You will be asked to complete a form when you attend, so please bring details of both your home and temporary addresses, and your own GP’s details. Please be aware that the admin team will need to contact your permanent GP prior to your appointment asking them to send a medical summary through to our practice.
If you have run out of medication while away from home, please contact the nearest pharmacy in the first instance (Kyle of Lochalsh) as they can often provide an emergency supply of your regular medication without a prescription. If however they are not able to do so, at the discretion of our GPs and perhaps after a consultation, you may be able to obtain it from our office. Please provide full details of the medication, doses and how long you are away from home when you request this. The GP may wish to see you to confirm the details so you may have to wait to receive the medication.
